It's been 6 years since my last news post to Newgrounds. And wow, how times have changed.
It's likely to be another 6 before I post again, so here's a quick summary of what's going down:
Phaser
After working in Flash for years I jumped ship and dove into HTML5 game development. I did this years before most other devs, and it was a fortuous move indeed. I could cry when I see what has happened to Flash since then, but time stands still for no-one.
Then a few years back I released Phaser. It's an open-source html5 game framework. Originally it was based on my love of all things Flixel, but has evolved beyond that in all recognition. I'm very pleased with how things are going with it - and the reception has been awesome. Basically devs are making some really frigging cool games with it - and it continues to dominate Github too, which is pretty sweet.
I'm still making games with ilkke too - a partnership that has lasted for years, and still causes some interesting little projects to bubble to the surface now and again.
Will I ever upload games to Newgrounds again? Hopefully - but times they are a changing, and you have to wonder about the long-term future of 'portals'. But you're here today right? Reading this? So at least there are some of us left :)
Rock on.
